About Us

Bramston Beach is a Masonic Lodge situated in Godalming in the Province of Surrey. It is the oldest Masonic Lodge in Godalming, where members meet at the Godalming Masonic Hall on Ockford Road on the 4th Thursday of September, November (Installation), January, March and May of each year. If you are already a Freemason and would like to join us for a Lodge meeting, you would be most welcome. Please do not hesitate to get in touch and we'll send you details of our regular meetings.

If you aren't a Freemason but are interested in joining one of the oldest fraternal organisations in the world then please get in touch for an informal chat or better still, come along to one of our social events to meet us. To become a member, you will be someone who can commit to a regular attendance at Lodge meetings and be someone who wants to contribute to the life and work of the Lodge, both at the meetings and during our social events. We are a friendly Lodge and would welcome the opportunity to help you take the first step into Freemasonry.

Brief History

Bramston Beach Lodge was consecrated at the Public Hall, Bridge Street, Godalming on Friday, 5th June, 1885. The Lodge takes its name from The R.W. Bro William Wither Bramston Beach, who was the first Provincial Grand Master from 1869 to 1901 of the newly combined Province of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. He was initiated into Apollo University Lodge No. 357 and was the Worshipful Master of that Lodge in 1852 and 1854. He held high Provincial Rank in both the Provinces of Hampshire and Oxfordshire. He was also a Member of Parliament from April 1857 until 1901 when he was "Father of the House". No trace can be found of any Masonic connection between the Province of Surrey and R.W. Bro Bramston Beach other than the adoption of his name to this Lodge and more recently the naming of the Bramston Beach Temple at the Godalming Masonic Hall.

Throughout our TBC year history, the members of Bramston Beach have come from all walks of life and each will have their own individual story to tell as to why they became a Freemason and the valuable lessons they have learnt, from being part of such a historic Lodge as well as knowing they are part of an organisation which has contributed to charitable organisations throughout the Province of Surrey.

If you would like to find out more, please contact the Lodge Membership Officer via the contact form on this web site and he will get back to you within 3 working days. Remember that each journey starts with the first step.
